We carefully hand pick only the best fruit available in any given vintage to ensure quality.
Elbourne Wines Vineyard is a boutique 5 star rated winery (James Halliday 2018 and 2019 Wine Companion) nestled on the undulating Terra Rossa hills of Pokolbin – the heart of the famous Hunter Valley wine growing region.
With only 4 acres of Chardonnay & 4 acres of Shiraz vines on the estate, we produce around 200 cases of each varietal per year. This Limited Release allows us to craft the wines with Premium French Oak, both new & old. The vines are now approximately 30 years of age & really producing high quality fruit as they are now fully mature vineyards.
Each year around January/February (depending on the growing season), we hold a picking “luncheon”, where family, friends & anyone else who happens to be nearby, are roped in to hand pick the fruit. As the legend of the long lunch that follows continues to grow, the picking seems to be getting a little easier. As they say, many hands make light work!
We hope you share our passion for quality single vineyard Estate wines, and enjoy the ride as we look to continually strive for success from vintage to vintage.
With our 2012 Chardonnay recently picking up its 2nd Trophy Gold medal, and the 2011 Shiraz picking up multiple awards (including a recent 96 point rating in the 2018 Halliday Wine Companion), it looks as though the hard work & pursuit of quality is paying dividends...

Marrowbone Park Stud & Farm
One of our passions on the property is thoroughbred horse breeding. Like the wine, our racehorse operation here at Marrowbone Park Stud is very boutique. We have a small number of broodmares which we try to breed high quality racing stock from. The progeny are then sent to the sales, such as Magic Millions & Inglis, where we hopefully sell the yearlings. Should we be unable to sell a yearling, we then retain them to race - often with family & friends. Keeping with the vino theme, our racing silks (or 'colours') for Marrowbone Park Stud feature a large bunch on pink grapes on the front & back of the black silks!!!
Aside from the horses, the rest of our menagerie of Wessex saddleback pigs, black Suffolk sheep, English springer spaniels, pheasants, guinea fowl, ducks and countless chooks keeps us busy on weekends and also offers us some of the freshest farm fare to go with our lovely wines.
